Our work, in Chemolli Fire, is a bit particular, extremely focused and specialized. We have worked – over the years – to define ourselves more precisely, revising our image from time to time. I wanted to publish the new site before the holidays, presenting the new logo claim:

“engineering and testing since ever”.

The chemollifire.com website has also been made more usable and clear, we are working on other various aspects of documentation and communication, but the gib part has been done.

This “dress”, not too different from the previous one, but still an improved version, does not change our method that puts the customer’s needs at the center of our work, the care and attention with which we carry out the activities, the people of the staff – skilled, prepared and have worked with us for some time – who make every relationship a real partnership.

To all intents, we aim to be your reference for the needs related to the design, testing, certification of your products and systems, in the field of fire resistance.

It is not difficult to communicate well, when you have high values available: there is nothing to invent, it just needs to be explained!

I look forward to seeing you in September for other important news.

In the meantime, I wish everyone a wonderful holiday!

CE marked fire doors: Speech by Eros Chemolli at Serramentalk

During the Serramentalk in the Nuova Finestra stand, at MADE expo, the direct field of application of the results (DIRAP) was discussed, but above all the potential of EXAPs.

During the Serramentalk in the Nuova Finestra stand, at MADE expo, we talked about the direct application of the results (DIRAP), but above all about the potential of EXAP.

Here is a summary of the speech for the readers:

What are Exap?

Eros Chemolli , CEO of Chemolli Fire will explain.

  • So Eros, how is it possible to modify the fire resistant windows compared to the tested ones?

First of all it is good to remember that fire doors are tested in the laboratory by means of the destructive test according to EN 1634-1 and all technical information is included in specific documents, extremely detailed in detail, which also include fixing techniques and possible protection.

The direct field of application of the results, DIRAP is part of the test standard and can allow the reduction or increase of the measurements, the increase in thicknesses and the possibility of changing support (from masonry to plasterboard and vice versa). The manufacturer can make changes without further approval but cannot intervene on construction components such as locks or hinges.

  • To make other types of changes, how to proceed?

To make other changes, a new test is required: EXAP, the Extended Application field of test results for fire resistant and smoke tight doors, diversified by areas, materials and types, belonging to the family of standards EN 15269.

The potential of EXAP is enormous & nbsp; and allows modifications on: materials, geometries, hinges, locks, handles, pull handles and door closers. The EXAP can only be requested by the manufacturer and must be drawn up by a recognized test laboratory, according to the standards, which will issue proof of evidence.

  • What if multiple tests are required for a lock change for example? Isn’t that a problem?

Yes, it is a problem and to solve it, a new standardized tool has been developed, the HPS (Hardware Performance Sheet) which allows the interchangeability of accessories. In practice, observes the CEO of Chemolli Fire, its purpose is to create a real identity card of the accessory to ensure that the notified body that issued a test report, can approve that accessory for different door types.

In summary, with the EXAP it is possible to create an optimized test plan (also in terms of expenditure for the manufacturer) and request changes after the first tests, bringing undoubted benefits to producers.

  • How are EXAPs managed in Chemolli Fire?

Once the need for changes has been verified and the application has been prepared, some application requests may be discarded or additional supporting evidence, existing or to be created from scratch, may be required.

EXAP enables benefits to manufacturers, with reduced test plans and variations without further (and less expensive) testing. The asseverators must know that producers do not necessarily have to test all possible variants but it is unlikely that a producer will be able to get away with a single test without EXAP.

Heartfelt thanks to DBInformation and Olga Munini for having dedicated a space to this important and constantly evolving issue and for giving us at Chemolli Fire the opportunity to explain and clarify the dynamics to the interested public.

Guidafinestra tells of “total consultancy” according to Chemolli Fire

The guide to door testing and certification is a fundamental part of the process where the quality of a product is not measured only through customer requests and expectations, but above all by taking into account standards of absolute value that bring added value to habitability. of a property.

It is not just about bureaucracy, but about coaching in the study of the product, production and discovery of new international business opportunities.

The guide to door testing and certification is a fundamental part of the process where the quality of a product is not measured only through customer requests and expectations, but above all by taking into account standards of absolute value that bring added value the habitability of a property.

Witness it, Fabio Beltramo , technical manager of Aip Porte : “Chemolli Fire has brought the necessary know-how regarding fire doors and this experience has become fundamental for the realization of the products. More than anything else I appreciated the human relationship that was created with Mr. Eros Chemolli who followed the entire door certification process with us: EI30, EI60. A collaboration that has allowed us to reach very high standards in terms of acoustic insulation”.

In this scenario, Flexya also measured itself, a reality born from a group of artisans, which has found its satisfactions on the market thanks to the right mix of dedication to work, craftsmanship and implementation of cutting-edge technological and industrial investments. Chemolli Fire has followed for them the certification of EI30, EI60, EI60 two-leaf doors and various levels of soundproofing: 26-31-32-37-39-42 db.

“With Chemolli – explains, Paolo Pantaleoni , Flexya sales manager – we have acquired knowledge in the field of fire doors and noise abatements that we have been able to pass on to our customers, allowing us to increase sales. With the same network of sellers, we were able to quickly expose ourselves to a new market in Italy, also undertaking some interesting export paths, to which we are trying to give continuity”.

Chemolli Fire makes this step its strong point, following the door certification path from the preparation of document and regulatory reporting for circulation in each country, up to a total consultancy report. The benefits are tangible: free movement, savings and reputation.

For this reason, taking the right certification path can open up unexplored business areas for the manufacturer.

The background of an article that appeared in “La Repubblica” about Chemolli Fire

Story of an interview in Autogrill: the chronicle of an unusual interview on what we do.

Story of an interview in Autogrill: the chronicle of an unusual interview about what we do.

This is a period of time, where you can navigate on sight. I listen to the GR2 at 6:30 in the morning, to get an idea of what the surrounding situation is. I avoid the TV, in order not to be too traumatized, apart from an evening news. From a business point of view, at least for us, there is a lot to do. Indeed, there is a lot of it. We try to carefully set up a large round of tests which – given the size – we will have to divide into three rounds: May, July, September. And these are only the programmable tests, everything that – normally – comes up in itinere is missing. My agenda is packed, and not with conference calls. Fortunately, I can count on trusted and prepared collaborators, who help me manage the workload. “Few but good” would be ungenerous, I prefer “just and very good”, which seems to me more fitting. Despite everything, the car’s odometer marks 55,000 kilometers a year, an increase of 15% compared to previous years. I am traveling on the A14 directed by some customers to monitor some work in progress, where my presence in the field is required. While I am traveling, I am contacted by “La Repubblica”, who had previously called the office. They noticed that we operate in a particular area, they would like to tell it in the newspaper. They ask me for an availability for an interview … mhhh, so, the week started with a streaming test of a roof from the north of Spain, a test in the presence of the fire, a day of acoustics, now let’s see the next days: two full days , tomorrow morning at 3 am I have to connect with an Australian laboratory for a streaming test of sandwich panels, go to two customers, next week I practically have to go around Italy doing 2,400 km passing through Calabria, Molise and Romagna … I am not there many possibilities, then the proposal comes naturally to me:

“What do you say if I drop anchor, stop and talk about it?”

Thus begins an interview lasting about twenty minutes – in an unspecified Autogrill pitch – in which a, I must say, very good journalist – has grasped our specificities, explaining them to a much wider audience and not at all technical, compared to to what we usually communicate to. We are also lucky, or better prepared: our website has a lot of content from which to draw various information. The result: here it is, at the link at the bottom of the page.

Personally, I was surprised at how clear a picture of what we do and how specific our work has been made, as well as how specialized we are in doing it. Since it was published, in addition to having also been re-proposed three times by the newspaper, there has been a succession of calls in the office for further interviews. I don’t give rope to all of them.

I am convinced that – in the normality of things – excessive use is made of terms such as “leader”, “excellence”, “innovation” and so on and so forth.

But when an excellent pen goes to tell a non-specialized audience a reality that actually contains what is described, I believe a credible and concrete picture emerges. I like stories: but only true stories.

Thanks therefore to “La Repubblica” for giving us space, painting us so wisely.

A focus on CE marking

Today the attention to the issue of CE marked wooden fire doors is high, with companies that are inquiring to understand what CE marking their wooden fire doors entails and with others that have already taken steps to achieve this goal. Let's go back to an article published in Nuova Finestra by Eros Chemolli.

Do you want to show your customers that you are at the forefront?

Today the attention to the topic of CE marked wooden fire doors is high, with companies that are inquiring to understand what CE marking their wooden fire doors entails and with others that have already launched to achieve this.

Let’s continue an article published in Nuova Finestra by Eros Chemolli.

A Case History

One of the first companies that carried out this procedure for wooden fire doors is Sebino Chiusure S.r.l. of Scanzorosciate, Bergamo. Andrea Bottà, owner and sales manager, tells us about the dynamics that led him to undertake this path. “[…] A large construction site required us to supply CE marked doors, which perfectly fell into the case of dual-use locks: approved and marked. Although we saw in the future the possibility of marking outdoor wood fire doors as a distinctive plus compared to the competition, we found ourselves having to provide immediately, precisely for a real need prescribed on a construction site “.

What is the procedure for certification?

“The manufacturer presents the range of products he wants to include with the relative variants, providing the available evidence. With teamwork, the laboratory and notified body verify the existing evidence defining any missing ones. The manufacturer sets up the production control system in the factory, then the notified body – since AVCP 1 is in force for these products – carries out the inspection visit, issuing the certificate of constancy and annually the inspection for surveillance. “

What does a manufacturer of wooden fire doors need to CE mark their products?

“First of all, the products must have been fire tested according to the European standard EN1634-1 and not with the national standard UNI 9723. Furthermore, the characteristics necessary for the single European country for that intended use must be verified . Normally this check can be done with local notified bodies, or at national contact points. The characteristics for this intended use for Italy are the permeability to air, water, wind, the ability to release in the event of panic bars, thermal transmittance “.

Did you know

THE CERTIFIER IN THE COMPANY In addition to the normal Initial Type Testing (ITT), the new CE marking requires a notified certification body to send an officer to your company to supervise, evaluate and personally verify the process productive.

YOU MUST DRAFT THE FPC MANUAL It is necessary to document the entire production process and write a Factory Production Control (FPC) manual. The aim is to formalize the procedures that allow the constant performance of the products.

ANNUAL CHECKS Once a year, the notified body official returns to the manufacturer to ensure that production and control standards are maintained.

MODIFYING PRODUCTS ALREADY TESTED IS MORE COMPLICATED The modifications in the marking regime can be carried out through an evaluation called Extended Application (EXAP) carried out by a laboratory. The evaluation is made not according to subjective laboratory criteria but with respect to the rules contained in the European standards of the UN EN 15269 series.

What are the advantages?

FREE CIRCULATION Your products can circulate freely throughout the Community.

SAVINGS Without the CE marking, a specific extension is required for each country and each product, with a cost that can vary from 3,000 to 5,000 euros per certificate.

REPUTATION You can present yourself to your customers with an extra guarantee, proving to be at the forefront also on the regulatory front.

Many Italian companies see, thanks to the CE marking according to the standard for external doors, a further plus: the delicious possibility of accessing the “ Ecobonus

The CE marking is therefore essential for your company to be attractive and avant-garde in the eyes of your customers .

We know that the procedure to follow is long and very complex: fortunately at Chemolli Fire we are used to complexity, so you can rely on us! We are international consultants, with a single goal: we improve your fire protection systems and make them safer. Our specialists will accompany you during all stages of testing and certification.

For further information, go to our website at THIS LINK and read the article published in Nuova Finestra 469.

And that’s not all!

Below you will find the first appointment of “ La Prova del Fuoco “, a video column in which we aim to analyze the most topical issues in the fire resistant closures sector: today we are talking, in fact, of the CE marking of fire resistant wooden doors .

We do it with Andrea Bottà, from Sebino Chiusure Srl . https://www.youtube.com/embed/T0iwEW0e_Rg
